Major League Soccer has come to an agreement to make Portland the eighteenth team in the league. The franchise will play its first game in 2011. Commissioner Don Garber had this to say, " A city with such a storied soccer tradition deserves an MLS team, and we are proud to have Portland join the top level of professional soccer in our region."
